UNESWA Wellness Day Celebration – 2019

The University of Eswatini hosted its second wellness day celebrations at a colorful event held at the Kwaluseni Campus on the 22nd of May 2019.

The theme for this year’s celebrations was “Wellness and you”.

The event was attended by the University’s Vice Chancellor Professor Justice Tfwala, Pro-Vice Chancellor for administration Professor P. Zwane, Pro-Vice Chancellor Academic Professor T. Gadaga, the entire management of the University and staff members from all three campuses.

The Wellness Day celebrations were aimed at fostering a healthy lifestyle among the University’s staff members and to ensure good health and wellbeing for its employees, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal number three, which promotes good health and wellbeing for all people of all ages.

Leading to the main event UNESWA hosted a workshop targeting Management, aimed at educating them on health and wellness initiatives. A series of aerobics were also hosted during the month of April for staff members in all the three campuses.

On the day, staff members participated in numerous activities including Aerobics, Sack race, Egg and spoon race as well as Tug of war to name a few.

Speaking during the event, UNESWA Vice Chancellor, Professor Justice Tfwala said hosting an event of this caliber will benefit the University by ensuring that the staff is healthy, happy and productive. He said it is for this reason that the management of the University will consistently support the wellness program.

To ensure that the day was a success the University worked in collaboration with various partners in the health sector including the Ministry of Health Wellness Programme, Nutrition Council, National Psychiatric Referral Hospital and the Matsapha Town Board Health Services to name a few.
