Qualification and Experience:

 

• A PhD in Library and Information Science.
• A Master’s Degree in Library and Information.
• A First Degree in any subject.
• At least 5 years working experience in an Academic Library.
• Ability to work with automated systems.
• Knowledge about Electronic Resource Management Systems (ERMS) will be an added advantage.
• A Diploma in Computer applications will be an added advantage.

Duties:

 

1. To manage the print electronic resource subscriptions;
2. To coordinate purchasing and licensing of print & electronic resources;
3. To facilitate access to electronic resources;
4.  To provide reference and research services to library users;
5. To provide information and digital literacy instruction to library users;
6. To teach School Librarianship;
7. To supervise the Acquisitions section of the Library;
8. To supervise the binging unit of the Library;
9. To conduct research in the discipline and collaborate with Colleagues to contribute to interdisciplinary research projects and initiatives;

10. To undertake Administrative duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department;

11. To undertake Consultancy Assignments; and
12. To engage in Community Outreach activities.

Appointment Terms:

Local Candidates       

Permanent and Pensionable service after successful completion of two years on probation; 10% Recruitment/Retention Allowance, Housing/Housing Allowance and other benefits.

Expatriate Candidates                           

Initial Two-year contract with a possibility for renewal by mutual consent subject to satisfactory performance plus Gratuity, 10% Recruitment/Retention Allowance, Housing/Housing Allowance, relocation expenses and other benefits.
