Qualification and Experience:
- An Upper Class Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/ Business Administration or a relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
- A registered Chartered Accountant (CA, CIMA, ACCA) from a recognized institution;
- Relevant experience of ten (10) years with at least five (5) years in an Executive position;
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong strategic planning and problem-solving skills; and
- Commitment to integrity, ethics and accountability in financial management.
Duties:
- Overseeing and directing the accounting functions of the University;
- Formulating investment strategies and policies to optimize the University’s financial resources and reserves;
- Conducting financial analysis and forecasting to inform decision making and resource allocation;
- Developing and implementing financial strategic plans to support the University’s vision, mission, goals and objectives;
- Formulating accounting/financial policies and regulations;
- Monitoring investment performance and risk exposures, adjusting strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes;
- Managing all University accounts;
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, regulatory standards and government financial regulations;
- Ensuring compliance with internal control policies and procedures promoting accountability and transparency in financial operations;
- Serving as a strategic advisor to senior management, offering financial expertise and guidance on key initiatives and projects of the University;
- Leading the annual budgeting process, working collaboratively with departmental heads in receiving departmental budget estimates and compiling the institution’ budget for presentation to the Finance Committee and Council;
- Ensuring that budgetary allocations align with strategic priorities and regulatory requirements;
- Coordinating external audits in the preparation of audited accounts of the University;
- Implementing appropriate financial controls and mitigation strategies to safeguard University assets as the custodian of the University Assets;
- Providing leadership and direction to the finance team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation and continuous improvement;
- Developing performance contracts for the staff reporting directly to the Bursar’s office;
- Making annual appropriate recommendation to the Academic and Administrative Staff Committee on the performance of the staff under the supervision of the Bursar;
- Developing fundraising initiatives for implementation by the University; and
- Exercising any other such powers and duties as may be assigned to him by the Vice Chancellor.

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive remuneration package which will be determined by the University Council. The appointment will be for a period of three (3) years subject to a possibility for renewal based on performance.
