Eswatini Water Services Corporation Donates 100 Desks to the University
Kwaluseni, 13 February 2026 – The University proudly received a generous donation of 100 desks from the Eswatini Water Services Corporation (EWSC) during a handover ceremony held at the Motsepe Foundation Academic Precinct, Kwaluseni Campus.
Handing over the desks was the Acting Managing Director of EWSC, Ms Nomahlubi Matiwane, who expressed the Corporation’s appreciation for the continued partnership with the University. She noted that the organisation was particularly encouraged by the positive response from students following a previous donation, with many taking to social media to express gratitude. The Corporation, she said, remains committed to supporting the advancement of higher education in the country.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the University community, Vice-Chancellor Professor Justice Thwala conveyed heartfelt appreciation to EWSC, its Board, Management and staff for their sustained support. He extended special recognition to the Managing Director, Ms Jabulile Mashwama, a proud alumna of the University, for her continued passion and commitment to her alma mater.
The Vice-Chancellor highlighted that the desks will be placed in the newly constructed academic facility funded through a E10 million donation by Honorary Dr Patrice Motsepe, another alumna of the University, which led to the development of the Motsepe Foundation Academic Precinct. He emphasised that such partnerships demonstrate the collective effort required to strengthen the University’s infrastructure and enhance the student learning experience.
Professor Thwala further reaffirmed the University’s commitment to strengthening institutional processes, improving financial governance structures, and enhancing student and staff support systems through an approved transformation framework guided by Council and led by the Registrar, Mr Max Mkhonza.
In addition, the Vice-Chancellor introduced the newly appointed Bursar, Ms Duduzile Dlamini-Nyembe, formerly Chief Financial Officer of EWSC, symbolising the strong ties between the University and the Corporation.
Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Henry Gadaga also expressed sincere appreciation to EWSC, noting that education is a shared national responsibility that requires collaboration between institutions and corporate partners. The Secretary-General of the Student Representative Council echoed these sentiments, thanking EWSC for its meaningful contribution toward improving the learning environment.
