LINAC Investments Donates Desks and Chairs to Support Growing Student Enrolment

The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) has received a generous donation of 170 desks and chairs valued at E55,727.50 from LINAC Investments, trading as OK Foods. The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, 14 January 2026 at the Kwaluseni Campus.

Receiving the donation, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Justice Thwala, expressed sincere appreciation to LINAC Investments for what he described as a timely and impactful contribution.

“This contribution has come at a most critical and opportune time for the University,” said Professor Thwala. He highlighted that the University’s enrolment has grown to 7,900 students, reflecting a 20% increase from the previous year. While this growth demonstrates confidence in the University’s academic offerings, it has also placed significant pressure on infrastructure. The University is currently facing a shortage of nearly 3,000 desks and chairs, a challenge further compounded by the introduction of new academic programmes and the rising demand for adequate learning spaces.

Professor Thwala also acknowledged OK Foods’ continued support to the University through its operation of campus refectories, a service that has been well received by students. He encouraged the student body to take proper care of the donated furniture to ensure that it continues to benefit many cohorts of students in the years ahead.

Quoting the well-known saying, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire,” the Vice-Chancellor noted that partnerships such as this one help create an environment that fosters learning, intellectual growth, and academic excellence.

LINAC Investments was represented at the ceremony by its General Manager, Mr Dlamini. The event was directed by the Registrar, Mr Max Mkhonza, and was attended by members of the Student Representative Council and the broader student community.

The University extends its heartfelt gratitude to LINAC Investments for its commitment to supporting higher education and enhancing the student learning experience.
