Graduation of the Inaugural Cohort of our Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture (MCLC) Level 1 course 2025
University of Eswatini (UNESWA) Marks Global Milestone!
We are incredibly proud to announce the successful graduation of the inaugural cohort of our Mandarin Chinese Language and Culture (MCLC) Level 1 course!
This intensive six-week programme, which ran from October 14th to November 21st, 2025, equipped 25 students and community members with foundational communication skills in Mandarin Chinese, one of the world’s most vital global languages.
This initiative, championed by the Department of English Language and Literature (Faculty of Humanities), is a core part of UNESWA’s commitment to internationalizing its curriculum, strengthening global partnerships, and producing culturally aware, globally competitive graduates. Learning Mandarin opens doors in business, diplomacy, education, and cultural exchange.
Cohort Success: On December 5th, 25 students received Certificates of Competence, with four outstanding learners earning Awards of Excellence.
Looking Ahead: Due to high demand, we are excited to offer two new short courses in March 2026: an Intermediate Level (MCLC 112) and a new intake of the Basic Level (MCLC 111). These courses are open to students, professionals, and the community.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Taiwan Embassy and the Taiwan Technical Mission for their crucial support. We look forward to continued collaboration, including exploring an immersion programme in Taiwan to further enrich our students’ intercultural competence.
