UNESWA scoops 2nd place prize at Eswatini International Trade Fair

Manzini – This year the University lured the crowds by the numbers to its exhibition stall at the Eswatini International Trade Fair 2019 with an impressive stall design and an exhibition strategy that saw the institution clinch 2nd place for one of the most innovative, attractive and busiest stalls.

The UNESWA stall stood out majestically, hard to miss among other stalls at Hall 1 and visitors came in their numbers to view exciting and informative projects on display at the UNESWA stall as well as to find out more about what the institution had to offer them.

The Eswatini International Trade Fair takes place every year in August at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre situated at the hub of the Kingdom, Manzini. The objectives of the Fair, spearheaded by the Eswatini Investment Promotion Authority, include developing links between Eswatini and international businesses, providing a platform where exhibiting businesses can network and share ideas as well as to  provide exposure to all local and international businesses exhibiting. The Fair runs for just over a week and draws in thousands of visitors daily. The theme of the 51st edition of the Fair this year was “Eswatini is open for business”.

The Trade Fair draws in the crowds by mixing business with pleasure. Besides the different exhibitions, a variety of games can be played by children, culture dance competitions are hosted and music festivals provide a lot of entertainment for those in attendance. A win a car competition is also run yearly.

UNESWA was part of the Fair again this year with the intention of networking and sharing ideas with other local and international Universities, sharing information with visitors on the different programmes the university has to offer, exhibiting informative and exciting projects done at UNESWA and accurately answering any questions that visitors might have about the institution.

One project that was a show stopper at the UNESWA stall was an urban agriculture project from the Faculty of Agriculture that displayed how people residing in flats and buildings without backyards can also benefit from agriculture. Students studying at UNESWA also had informative projects that they had on display that visitors were curious about.

The Chancellor of the University, His Majesty King Mswati III, took the time to visit the UNESWA stand when he toured the different exhibitions and he was welcomed by UNESWA Vice Chancellor, Professor Justice Thwala who explained what the University had to offer visitors during the Fair.

Through much needed dedication and hard word during the Fair, it was no surprise that UNESWA clenched 2nd and awarded for some of the best stalls for 2019! The UNESWA staff and students that were working at the Fair had a great time.

We work towards and look forward to the next Eswatini International Trade Fair!
